After getting his start in local radio, Joe quickly moved to online and TV, becoming part of one of the industry’s most exciting entertainment teams at ITN, where his interviews with the likes of Brad Pitt and Rita Ora saw him feature across ITV2, 4Music and many other channels before landing a major presenting job on Sky1’s Saturday morning entertainment and culture show, What’s Up TV, where he is working on his 12th series.
Joe can also currently be seen on biographical series Pop Profiles (4Music), Rock Legends and Discovering Music (Sky Arts) where his knowledge was called upon to discuss the lives and careers of artists as diverse as Tina Turner to 2 Chainz! His entertainment expertise was in demand again when, many moons ago, he was asked to cover the Oscars for the Vanessa Feltz Show on BBC London and they must have been semi-chuffed with his performance, as he has remained one of the stations premier entertainment experts ever since, working across; Gaby Roslin’s, Harriet Scott’s and Nikki Bedi’s programmes, as well as the Breakfast Show. He then also joined the team at talkRADIO, working across both the Breakfast and Drivetime shows reviewing films, music and entertainment, bringing you the latest news from social media and letting the UK know what to do with their weekend in the ‘What’s On?’ guide. His skills as an expert guest were further called upon by BBC Radio 5 Live, where he joined the Breakfast Show as an entertainment specialist before going on as a guest to share his knowledge of sports, health and fitness during Clean Sport Week. It was this performance that prompted the BBC flagship Breakfast TV programme to invite him on to speak more about the subject.
Joe continued to learn his trade in front of and behind camera as a freelance producer/reporter for renowned global news network Getty Images, where he covers movie premieres, junket and events and produces major branded campaigns for companies including Amazon, HTC, McDonald's, ASOS, UNICEF, LEGO and The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and working with talent including Matt Damon, Colin Farrell and even Pele! He then moved on to the Press Association, creating major video campaigns for the likes of National Geographic, BT and easyJet.
Joe Forrester is an entertainment expert, with over 800 interviews to his name and a knowledge of film, music and pop culture to rival any broadcaster. This is coupled with an inquisitive mind that often seeks the deeper issue behind any story. Joe is a presenter and programme-maker that is just as comfortable hosting tongue-in-cheek entertainment round-ups as writing and presenting documentaries and is currently producing a whole host of ideas from travel documentaries to long-form factual series, combining his knowledge of pop culture and passion for history, which he has a degree in… Just think ‘Simon Schama in skinny jeans!’ He is the host of the Viral History Podcast and is currently working on his first history series for TV.
In Spring 2018 Joe was given the chance to live a childhood dream, hosting LoveSportRadio's Saturday afternoon football show The Score, having far too much fun bringing listeners the latest live scores as well as a healthy dollop of opinions. From there he has continued to present across the station, variously hosting both the Breakfast and Drivetime shows as well as a number of other slots. He was also the writer, producer and host of Goal's live #PressureChallenge , attracting several hundred thousand viewers from some of the biggest fixtures in world football before moving on to front their Premier League show, That Weekend, Tho'.
These skills in front of and behind the camera have all been combined, as Joe is currently developing his first TV series, a six-part exploration of the UK's homelessness crisis, as well as an animated children's show and a series of shorts exploring UK subcultures.
